First of all, take the time to visit your doctor. Poor memory is often a symptom of serious health problems. A common cause of poor memory is hypothyroidism, but sometimes things are much worse, and neurodegenerative diseases and even a brain tumor are hidden behind absent-mindedness and forgetfulness. If the doctor confirms that there are no diseases that can affect memory, you should pay attention to your lifestyle: daily routine and nutrition. As for the daily routine, it is important to ensure yourself adequate rest. According to scientists, the brain fully rests only two hours a day: from 22 to 24 hours. For this reason, try to fall asleep before 10 pm. People who go to bed after midnight are prone to chronic fatigue syndrome. One of the manifestations of brain fatigue is memory impairment. Start eating right. The ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in the diet should be equal in percentage, respectively: 15/15/70. Diets based on avoiding fat and strictly limiting carbohydrates will only exacerbate memory problems. Carbohydrates are preferably obtained from cereals, fruits, berries and vegetables. Vegetable oils and fatty fish are a source of healthy fats. Eat meat and seafood several times a week, on other days get your protein intake from cottage cheese, milk and eggs. Try to eat less sweets and animal fats, which are unhealthy in large quantities, and make sure that there is no deficiency of B vitamins, vitamin C, trace elements iron and iodine, and alpha lipoic acid. Introduce foods containing memory-boosting substances such as blueberries, wheat germ, greens, nuts, seeds, cheese, yeast, and it is highly recommended that you take time to exercise regularly. Physical activity improves blood flow to the brain, and sometimes memory is impaired just because we don't actually use it. Like the muscles of the human body, memory can be trained, it is important to do it systematically. Master one of the existing methods of improving memory or use proven exercises: memorize poetry; read and retell texts; write a chain of 10-15 arbitrary words on a sheet of paper and, turning the sheet over, try to reproduce it; examine the image for a few seconds, and then, after hiding it, compose a description of the depicted object. You can apply any other training you know.
