Many people of different age groups suffer from ear diseases. The cause of pain can be ear inflammation. There are many medications that can help relieve pain and inflammation, but one of the most common treatments is with camphor oil. Camphor oil is a solution of camphor in vegetable oil.
It is necessary
- - gauze;
- - cotton wool;
- - camphor oil.
Camphor oil itself has a number of positive properties. It excites and stimulates the cardiovascular and nervous systems. The oil has warming properties. It is considered an oil with antiseptic properties. It will help relieve pain and various kinds of inflammation. The range of its possible use is very wide, but there are a number of contraindications, in the presence of which the use of oil is prohibited. In no case should you use camphor oil for treatment if you are allergic to it. It is also forbidden to use during pregnancy or lactation, in case of violations of the integrity of the skin in the place where the oil should be applied. Possible seizures of epilepsy are also contraindications for use. You can not use camphor oil for children under two years old, because there is a very high risk of poisoning the baby.
The most common risk while using camphor oil is possible overdose. In no way should the drug be used excessively or thoughtlessly without the permission of a doctor. Otherwise, at least you can get reddening of the skin area, and at the most, the patient can be delusional. Also, among the possible side effects may be convulsions, very severe pain in the head, loss of orientation and balance. So camphor oil should be used only with the permission of a doctor, strictly observing the recommended application rates. If you have any side effects, you need to urgently consult a doctor.
You can apply camphor oil by instilling it in a sore ear, as well as make compresses and tampons with the drug. But it should be borne in mind that if, with one ear disease, camphor oil becomes a method of treatment, then for another it can only do harm. So, before using it, it is important to go to an appointment with an otolaryngologist and establish a diagnosis. You also need to consult with your doctor about the possibility of using the drug and dosage.
Otitis media quite often appears during the cold season, although this disease can also occur as a result of insect bites, improper ear hygiene, infection, and also as a complication of other diseases.
External ear inflammation is characterized by skin redness, swelling, and itching. Inflammation of the middle ear appears most often due to the penetration of an infection into the ear, this happens due to infectious and viral diseases of the ENT organs. If the disease is ignored, the average ear inflammation spills over into the development of internal inflammation. This is a rather dangerous form of the disease, as it can spread to the lining of the brain, causing meningitis. In addition, the disease can spill over into a chronic form, which leads to partial hearing loss.
Also sometimes there is a disease such as tubo-otitis, also called eustachitis. The disease is characterized by edema of the Eustachian tube. In this case, the patient complains of ear congestion. Camphor oil can be applied as tampons or compresses.
Camphor oil can also be used if an insect has got into the ear. It is recommended to drip camphor oil rather than using tampons. But if any other objects get in, they can only be removed from an otolaryngologist. This is especially true for items with sharp edges.
If treatment is started on time, inflammation and pain can be eliminated within two weeks. Among the traditional methods of treatment, camphor oil ranks first, as it has many healing properties.
But first, it is necessary to restore nasal breathing by instilling a vasoconstrictor or clearing the nasal cavity in another way. After that, you need to lie on your side and drip 3-5 drops of camphor oil into the sore ear, then close the auricle with a dry cotton swab. You can also moisten cotton wool with oil and place it in your ear.
In case of partial hearing loss, it is recommended to take 1 clove of garlic, grind it in a mortar, mixing with 3 drops of camphor oil. The finished mixture is laid out in gauze, rolled up in several layers, then inserted into the sore ear. After a couple of hours, you need to take out the gauze and repeat the procedure every evening before going to bed.
You can also apply a compress to a sore ear. To do this, heat the oil in a water bath, moisten a square piece of gauze rolled in 3 layers in it, and apply it on the ear, cover it with plastic wrap on top and tie the head with a scarf. This compress is left overnight.
You can use camphor oil as an instillation agent. This method is used in the event that an insect has got into the ear or when otitis media occurs, both external, middle and internal. If an insect enters, it is necessary to bury the oil very slowly, one drop at a time. There should be small intervals between drops. As a result, the oil should simply push the insect out. For the treatment of external otitis media, you need to drip 2-3 drops of camphor oil. If you suffer from otitis media, then camphor oil treatment is possible only if the perforation of the tympanic membrane has not been violated. It is buried in 3-5 drops. But it is better to use tampons with camphor oil. In case of otitis media, you need to bury it three times a day.
When treating ears, it is better to combine several methods, since camphor oil will not be able to get rid of bacteria in the ear, so antibiotics are needed, which can only be prescribed by an otolaryngologist.
If otitis media is not a primary disease, but a complication of some other disease, then treatment should be started by eliminating the root cause. In this case, camphor oil can only help relieve the pain in the ear, but it will not cure it.
