Insomnia is a clear sign of a weakened nervous system. In the cerebral cortex, excitation processes dominate over inhibition processes. The nerves need to be calmed. And if easy remedies do not help, you have to look for stronger medicines. But all the most powerful sleeping pills, including narcotic drugs, are dispensed in pharmacies strictly according to prescriptions, because their uncontrolled intake is life-threatening. However, there are several over-the-counter medications that are highly effective.

If you have insomnia, the most useless thing is to wait for it to go away by itself. And the most harmful thing is to self-medicate. The sooner you see a neurologist, the faster you will get rid of insomnia
If you have insomnia, the most useless thing is to wait for it to go away by itself. And the most harmful thing is to self-medicate. The sooner you see a neurologist, the faster you will get rid of insomnia

Let's say right away: the therapeutic effect of both Melaxena and Donormil, which are considered potent hypnotics, can vary. Actually, this is typical for any medicine, since each organism is purely individual.

Melaxen

When the concentration of the sleep hormone melatonin in the blood rises, a sleepy state sets in, and the person falls asleep. An important feature: melatonin is synthesized in the pineal gland of the brain only in the dark. And in the light it collapses - therefore, as soon as dawn comes, we wake up.

But often due to stress, overexertion, alcohol abuse, illness, harmful environmental conditions, the brain begins to produce little of this hormone. If the body lacks endogenous melatonin, its deficiency can be replenished with a synthetic analogue.

Such a drug "Melaxen" (synonyms: "Melatonin", "Yukalin") restores the disturbed cycle of sleep and wakefulness. A person falls asleep faster, and sleep becomes deep, full. Over time, it does not stop at all until the morning. Many patients note that their dreams themselves have become calmer and more pleasant.

This drug is also good in that the next morning its intake does not affect the state of health and performance - there is no feeling of heaviness in the head, weakness. When using "Melaxen" courses and in the recommended doses, thought processes are not inhibited, memory does not deteriorate.

In addition, Melaxen helps to adapt to other time zones. Therefore, this drug is often taken with them when flying to distant countries, taking a pill at night the day before departure and another two to three days after arrival.

And, perhaps most importantly, Melaxen is one of the few sleeping pills that do not cause addiction or drug dependence. Take it one pill half an hour before bedtime. But it is better to start with a lower dose, perhaps half a tablet will be enough.

However, "Melaxen" is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in severe kidney disease, allergies, diseases of the blood and lymphatic system, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, epilepsy.

Donormil

This is an even more potent drug. He, like "Melaxen", without disturbing the cyclicity of sleep phases, reduces the time to fall asleep. Usually, a half of a Donormil tablet is enough to make the eyelids heavy and there is a desire to close them. Sleep becomes long and deep.

However, it also has side effects. Some patients complain that in the morning they wake up with a "leaden" head and then feel lethargic and sleepy all day. And someone sometimes even has nightmares, because of which sleep is interrupted.

"Donormil" is such a strong drug that even a small overdose of it can turn into undesirable phenomena.

Therefore, it is important to choose a strictly individual dose. For some patients, for example, not half, but even a quarter of the tablet is quite enough to achieve the effect.

But this drug should also not be taken by pregnant women who are breastfeeding. It is also contraindicated in angle-closure glaucoma, urinary retention. It is necessary to take it carefully for hypertensive patients, since each effervescent tablet contains almost 500 mg of sodium salts.

"Donormil" (synonyms "Sonmil", "Sondox", "Sonnix") are taken in courses of two to three weeks with monthly breaks. Even with prolonged use, it is not addictive.

Taking "Melaxen" or "Donormil", you need to perform work with the utmost concentration that requires a quick reaction speed and intense attention.

It should also be remembered: any sleeping pills, and especially potent ones, absolutely cannot be combined with alcohol! They are also incompatible with antidepressants, tranquilizers, neuroleptics.
