Pityriasis versicolor, also called pityriasis, is a severe fungal infection of the epidermis of the skin that produces painless but unpleasant spots and scaling. The disease is not contagious, but it can be treated for a very long time with the use of many medicines.
For treatment, you will need several topical preparations. Buy fluconazole or ketoconazole antifungal gels or ointments from your pharmacy. Be sure to check with the pharmacist for the availability of more expensive systemic drugs of the imidazole series. If they are on sale, be sure to buy a pack of tablets of any of them, for example, "Zalain", since their effectiveness is the same. The first aid kit should have salicylic alcohol and Cycloserine ointment.
Start treatment with the morning lubrication of exfoliated skin areas with "Fluconazole", repeat the procedure before bedtime. Take the tablets twice a day with one tablet of sunflower oil. Fluconazole is being successfully replaced by Ketoconazole, which is also effective.
Boil all clothing, underwear and bedding with baking soda added to the washing powder (half a teaspoon per wash), change it every day.
Lubricate pigment spots with the preparation "Cycloserine", due to which their number and color intensity will decrease.
The high stability of the infection in the skin of the human body suggests long-term therapy, which must be carried out for a long time, under the supervision of a doctor. The dermatovenerologist will also assess the overall effectiveness of the treatment by testing the resistance of the fungus to antimycotics. In order not to harm your skin, by yourself choosing the wrong dosage of antifungal drugs, follow his instructions, then the treatment will speed up as much as possible.
In order to prevent a relapse of the disease, carry out simple prevention. To do this, lubricate the skin every day with acidified water - squeeze 10 drops of lemon juice per 100 ml of water. Do less heavy work in hot weather, because sweat is a breeding ground for the fungus, and the heat encourages its reproduction. If this is not possible, lubricate the skin with salicylic alcohol after work.
