Lokoid is an anti-allergic agent that relieves inflammation of the skin, relieves swelling and itching. In medical practice, it is actively used not only by allergists, but also by dermatologists. Since the active ingredient works locally, without getting into the stomach environment, the drug rarely becomes the cause of adverse reactions.

Lokoid is produced by a pharmaceutical company in Italy. The drug is presented in the form of a cream and ointment, the active ingredient of which is hydrocortisone butyrate. The drug is not hormonal, not addictive. The gel is more suitable for oily skin, the ointment is more suitable for dry skin, as it lies on the surface of the skin with a thick film.

The local drug "Locoid" accumulates in the body, but not in the internal organs, but in the epidermis, or rather in the granular layer. Hydrocortisone enters the bloodstream in small quantities, enters the liver and is metabolized there to metabolites, which are subsequently excreted from the body in urine and bile.

"Lokoid" has shown itself on the positive side in relation to diseases occurring in the form of keratinization of the skin. Such diseases include: atopic and seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, erythroderma. It should be noted that hydrocortisone butyrate should be prescribed as part of complex therapy, since external manifestations are only symptoms of deeper causes.

Hydrocortisone butyrate can provoke the development of irreversible effects if used for certain diseases. If a person applies a cream or ointment to the skin where a bacterial infection is present, the disease will worsen, the skin condition will worsen.

It is dangerous to use "Locoid" for viral, parasitic and fungal infections of the skin, as well as during syphilitic lesions.

Do not prescribe a local drug in the presence of oncological tumors, rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis. Cream and ointment are used with caution in childhood, diabetes, pregnancy and lactation.

Mode of application

Ointment "Locoid" is applied with massaging movements on the damaged surface with a thin layer 1-3 times a day. If the patient notes a positive trend, the use of the drug is reduced to 2-3 times a week. Sometimes dermatologists advise patients to apply the product under a special bandage for better absorption.

Locoid cream is used for acute skin processes. It is applied in the same way as an ointment.

Price and analogues

The cost of "Locoid" varies depending on the form of issue. The cream will cost the buyer 350 rubles, the ointment will come out a little cheaper - 320 rubles. On pharmacy shelves, you can find analogues of the drug, similar in indications. Such funds include: ointment "Colloidin", "Sinaflan", "Latikort", "Elokom". Such products are not equated with structural substitutes, therefore, the instructions should be carefully read before processing the skin.
