Worms are dangerous neighbors of a person, from which you need to get rid of. It is possible to determine that a person is infected with worms by his appearance and the nature of failures in his body, but the most effective are clinical methods for diagnosing feces and blood, as well as methods of clinical and instrumental diagnostics

How to get tested for worms

There are over a dozen ways to get tested for worms. The most common among them are microscopic examinations, diagnostics of the polymer chain reaction, enzyme immunoassay, autonomic resonance testing and clinical and instrumental diagnostics.

Microscopic examinations

If you seek advice from an infectious disease doctor, you will most likely be asked to submit feces for microscopy - a laboratory study of feces under a microscope in order to identify larvae and fragments of parasites in it. The reliability of this method is low (12-20%) and depends on the sensitivity of the microscope, as well as the professionalism of the laboratory assistant. With the help of microscopy of feces, it is impossible to determine the presence of interstitial parasites in a person, such as Toxocara or Trichinella.

Diagnostics of the polymer chain reaction (PCR diagnostics)

PCR diagnostics is a molecular diagnostic technique that involves measuring the concentration of nucleic acid fragments (DNA) in a patient's blood. This method allows diagnosing a patient's infection with protozoa, viruses and intracellular parasites, it has been thoroughly tested in a clinical setting and has passed the test of time. A significant disadvantage of this method is the impossibility of determining the number of parasites in the patient's body.

Immunoassay (ELISA)

ELISA diagnostics is used to determine antigens and antibodies in the blood of a patient infected with parasites. The reliability of this method reaches 90%, its level depends on the degree of damage to the body by worms, as well as on the stage of the life cycle of the parasites. The method allows not only to establish the fact of helminthiasis, to identify the types of parasites and the degree of their distribution in the body, but also makes it possible to track the process in dynamics.

Vegetative resonance testing (ART)

ART is a unique method of computer diagnostics that allows you to identify worms in the human body by the frequency of their electromagnetic oscillations. With the help of ART, it is possible to identify not only progressive helminthic invasions, but also the slightest changes in organs and tissues associated with the presence of parasites, even before their clinical manifestations appear. This method is the most comfortable for a person and the most reliable.

Clinical and instrumental diagnostics (KID)

KID includes ultrasound (ultrasound), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The reliability of the listed methods depends on the subjective factor and the correctness of the interpretation of the results obtained. If the laboratory assistant does not have sufficient experience to make a diagnosis, the reliability of the results is significantly reduced.

Other methods

For the diagnosis of tissue helminthiasis, acute or treatment phase of helminthic invasions, other research methods are also used. The most common serological methods associated with the study of the composition of a patient's blood include reactions of indirect hemagglutination, latex agglutination, complement binding and immunofluorescence.

If the diagnosis has confirmed that you have worms, you should not self-medicate. It is better to consult an infectious disease doctor who will select the necessary drugs for parasites in accordance with your diagnosis, age and individual characteristics.
