Alcohol addiction is a very complex disease. It affects the entire body as a whole, and its treatment should be comprehensive. It should be carried out by a specialist with the most direct help from relatives of a person suffering from alcohol dependence. Getting out of binge drinking - a long period of continuous drinking - and stopping them altogether is often impossible without some measures.
Binge drinking is most often a continuation of the usual hangover syndrome. In this state, a person experiences an irresistible urge to drink another dose of alcohol in order to alleviate his condition. The way out, even on its own, from the hard drinking does not mean that the disease has been defeated. It is necessary to start immediate treatment, preferably with the involvement of a specialist in narcology, otherwise the drunken state will repeat again.
It is possible to interrupt (stop) the binge only at the end of the binge period. For example, if a person's habitual binge continues for a week, then there is no point in putting an IV on the second day, since this measure will only remove alcohol poisoning. Carry out treatment without fail with the consent of the alcohol addict, otherwise there will be no effect.
You can stop the binge in a hospital and at home, with a call to a narcologist at home. However, withdrawal from hard drinking at home is impossible if the patient is unconscious or in a state of delirium tremens. In these cases, hospitalization is indispensable. In general, the most effective way to get a person out of the binge is to seek professional help, especially for severe forms of alcoholism.
Removal of hard drinking is the process of detoxification of the sick person's body, i.e. cleansing his body of toxins. There are several ways: hemosorption (the process of passing blood through special filters), plasmapheresis, intravenous drip (using droppers, intravenous and intramuscular injections) of medicinal solutions (glucose, saline). Do not forget that the first two methods are used in cases of extremely severe alcohol poisoning.
Conclusion from hard drinking at home is effective at the initial stage of alcoholism. Give the patient plenty of fluids, at least 3 liters per day, for example, apple juice, dried fruit compote, lemon tea or pickle. Before starting the procedure, you can flush the diseased stomach to get rid of the remnants of alcohol. In addition, help the patient to take a contrast shower or pour cold water over his head.
Be sure to isolate the suffering person from drinking companions, do not allow them to communicate even on the phone. Do not agree to the patient's requests to replace strong alcohol with lighter alcoholic beverages, this can aggravate his condition. Suggest herbal teas such as St. John's wort, wormwood, mint, and yarrow. Take 2 parts of herbs and 1 part of calamus root, angelica and juniper fruit. Mix and boil with boiling water. This tea should be drunk without sugar and in large quantities. The therapeutic diet includes eating sauerkraut or thick beef bone broth.
