Video: How does cancer spread through the body? - Ivan Seah Yu Jun 2022, December

The myth of the infectiousness of cancer is so tenacious that even now, when doctors have officially denied it long ago, the echoes of fear continue to torment those who are faced with the disease and their loved ones. And sometimes they can even become the reason that the environment turns away from the sick person, exacerbating his already difficult fate.

Is cancer transmitted

Step 1

To stop being afraid of a person who is sick with oncology, it is necessary to understand that cancer is, first of all, a tumor. Although cells have learned to multiply and spread uncontrollably within one organism, they have no strategy for moving from one body to another. In this they are very different from viruses and bacteria, in which the search for a new host is included in the life cycle. Cancer, killing the body, eventually dies with it. Therefore, healthy people have no need to fear that cancer cells will be passed on to them through close contact with a sick person. But even if this happens inadvertently, for example, when caring for a patient or using one set of linen or dishes, the immune system immediately recognizes foreign cells and will do everything possible to instantly destroy them. In fairness, it is worth mentioning that in the body of every person, one or another mutated cell appears almost every day, which can give an impetus to the development of oncology. And all of them are immediately destroyed. Until the protection system fails. Or, conversely, it never will.

Step 2

Even in the case of oncology, which is caused by certain bacteria or viruses, for example, liver or cervical cancer, the risk of cancer transmission is reduced to such a minimum that statistics prefer not to take it into account at all. That is, medicine does not at all deny the possible infection with the same papilloma virus when a healthy person comes into contact with an infected person, but this infection does not mean that a person will necessarily get cancer. For the emergence of oncology, several circumstances are necessary at once, and the virus is one of them, and not the most important one.

Step 3

And we must not forget that cancer cells are, first of all, cells of the human body, albeit mutated. This means that once they find themselves outside the body, they immediately perish. Therefore, neither the saliva of a sick person, nor any other discharge from the body are dangerous in terms of transmission, that is, a sick person can be hugged, kissed, and changed underwear without the risk of contracting cancer from him. Moreover, you will not be able to get sick even if you immediately inject yourself with a needle that has just been injected into the patient. Science knows only one case when a healthy surgeon, having cut himself while removing a tumor, soon fell ill with the same type of oncology. But upon closer examination of the situation, it was found that it was just a coincidence. The doctor already had all the prerequisites for the development of the disease and with a high degree of probability would get sick, even if nothing happened.
