As a preventive measure, nicotinic acid is used to improve vision and memory, with gastritis with low acidity, to eliminate the manifestations of hemorrhoids, with a reduced level of intake of fatty acids in the body, for the prevention of cancer.

Nicotinic acid promotes vasodilation and normalizes oxygen metabolism and oxidative reactions in the body.

Instructions for use of the drug

Nicotinic acid is available in tablets and ampoules. One ampoule contains 1 ml of 1% solution of nicotinic acid. The drug is prescribed in one ampoule 1-2 times a day. It is administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously. Intramuscular and intradermal nicotinic acid injections are painful. After an intravenous injection, redness of the skin may occur, which is a normal physiological reaction. The absence of redness indicates that there are circulatory disorders in the body.

Nicotinic acid tablets are prescribed 1-2 tablets three times a day, depending on body weight and the severity of the disease. While taking the drug, it is required to introduce cottage cheese and other products containing a large amount of methionine into the diet. This substance helps protect liver cells. If the gastric juice has increased acidity, in this case, nicotinic acid is prescribed after meals, and it must be washed down with plenty of warm milk and mineral water. It is recommended to take niacin tablets in spring and autumn for people with circulatory problems in the lower extremities. In these cases, the drug is taken within 30 days.

In the presence of thrombophlebitis and venous insufficiency, nicotinic acid should be taken in long courses.

Nicotinic acid is taken only as directed by a doctor. It is not recommended to use it during exacerbation of stomach ulcers, liver diseases, high blood pressure, individual intolerance to vitamin PP. It is strictly forbidden to prescribe nicotinic acid for bleeding and hemorrhage in the brain.
