Sprains and ruptures of the ligaments occur as a result of strong, non-joint movements. The most common injury, accompanied by a sprain, occurs on the ankle joint, when the foot is twisted on uneven ground or falls, especially if the foot is fixed and cannot turn after the lower leg (in skiers, etc.). It is accompanied by severe pain in the joint area, swelling and smoothness of the contours of the joint.

It is necessary

  • - interior lard, beeswax, spruce resin, copper sulphate, horse chestnut;
  • - beesworm, bitter wormwood, calendula medicinal;
  • - clay, mummy, onions.


Step 1

First of all, it is necessary to give complete rest to the stretched ligaments, make a tight bandage and apply a cold compress.

Step 2

On the second or third day, you can do massage with various herbal ointments, alcohol compresses, clay applications.

Step 3

To prepare a medicinal ointment, take 200 grams of pork lard, chop it, place it in a saucepan and, putting it on a low heat, melt to obtain melted fat.

Step 4

Then, putting a pot of fat in a water bath, put in it 100 grams of beeswax, 50 grams of spruce resin, copper sulphate on the tip of a knife and 10 grams of powdered horse chestnut skins. Simmer for 2 hours and, after removing from heat, leave for 24 hours.

Step 5

Then slightly warm to a liquid state and strain through a two-layer cheesecloth. Rub the resulting ointment into damaged ligaments two to three times a day or massage with it.

Step 6

For stretch compresses, prepare the following remedy. Take 3 tablespoons of beesworm, 2 tablespoons of crushed wormwood, 3 tablespoons of crushed leaves and calendula flowers. Having filled up the components in a thermos, pour half a liter of boiling water overnight.

Step 7

In the morning, filter the infusion, put the brewed raw material on a linen napkin and, applying it to the sore spot and covering it with compression paper, fix it with a bandage. Warm the top with a woolen or flannel fabric. As the compress dries, moisten it with the resulting filtrate. When changing the compress, let the skin dry for an hour or two.

Clay applications are very effective for stretching. Take half a glass of ready-to-use clay and dilute it with a liter of water in which 2 grams of mummy is dissolved. Then grate a medium-sized onion head on a fine grater and, putting in a clay mash, stir thoroughly.

Step 9

Then moisten a gauze napkin in the prepared talker and, putting it on the sore spot, fix it with a bandage, which is additionally insulated with a woolen cloth. After 2-3 hours (as the clay dries), remove the bandage. Thoroughly rinse the napkin with clay (or it is better to take a fresh one and soak the old one in water for 2-3 hours). Soak it again in a clay mug and secure with a bandage. When stretching, it is recommended to put 2-3 lotions.
