## Video: How To Measure Pressure Without A Device

If you are feeling unwell, the first thing that comes to mind is to measure your blood pressure. And according to the measurement results - to take measures to normalize it. Of course, it would be good to use a tonometer for this. However, in its absence, one should not despair - pressure measurement with a high degree of reliability of the results can be carried out without it.

## It is necessary

• - wedding ring, needle or nut;
• - wooden 20 cm ruler or flexible centimeter.

## Instructions

### Step 1

There are some rules to follow when measuring blood pressure. Eliminate the factors that influence the pressure change. Do not smoke, refrain from drinking strong tea, coffee, alcoholic beverages, do not use sympathomimetics, eye and nose drops.

### Step 2

Start measuring your blood pressure a few minutes after urinating and no earlier than an hour after eating. After physical work or emotional stress, rest for 15-30 minutes. Before measuring pressure, normalize your breathing by taking 5-6 deep breaths.

### Step 3

Prepare a wooden ruler with a length of at least 20 cm or a flexible centimeter with 10 mm divisions. Take a gold ring and thread a 10 to 20 cm long woolen thread through it. You can use a darning needle with the same length of thread. Even a long hair nut can be used as a plumb line.

### Step 4

Feel the pulse on your left wrist with your right hand. Put the ruler on your hand so that the zero mark coincides with the found pulse - this will be the starting point

### Step 5

Keep your left hand with the ruler on a stable, horizontal surface. The hand should be at the level of the heart. With your right hand, trace a plumb line 5 mm above the ruler, from the wrist to the elbow. Take the pressure measurement slowly.

### Step 6

After a while, you will see how the plumb bob swings perpendicular to the ruler. Look and remember at what point it happened. Multiply this value by 10. For example, 8 cm x 10 = 80. This is your lower diastolic blood pressure in mmHg. Art.

### Step 7

Continue along the plumb line along the ruler. After a few centimeters, it will begin to swing from side to side again, showing the value of the upper systolic blood pressure.

### Step 8

Visually, hypertension can be identified by a flushed face, a large abdomen and redness of the eyes. He has tinnitus, shiny "flies" before his eyes, shortness of breath. A person with low blood pressure is characterized by an expressionless, pale, thin face. Even with a full sleep, a hypotonic person often has a feeling of fatigue, weakness, and memory deterioration.

### Step 9

According to the classification of blood pressure adopted in 1999 by the WHO, the norm is optimal pressure - 120/80, normal - less than 130/85 and increased normal - 130-139 / 85-89. If you find an increase or decrease in blood pressure, consult a doctor.
