To make a diagnosis, in most cases, a series of studies are required. The most common tests are blood and urine tests. But if the accuracy of the results of the first analysis depends to a greater extent on the professionalism of the laboratory assistant and the settings of the equipment, then in the second case it is also necessary to correctly collect the material for the study.
It is necessary
- - cotton wool;
- - sterile container.
A general urine test is prescribed not only in the presence of complaints, but also for prophylactic purposes. After all, many diseases at first proceed latently and do not cause problems. By the time the first symptoms appear, the disease is often already neglected, and therefore the duration of treatment is increased several times. For this reason, take a general urine test at least once or twice a year, and if indicated, with the frequency recommended by your doctor.
Previously, preparation for analysis began with a thorough cleaning of the container. The glass container had to be cleaned of contamination and sterilized with steam. Now there is no urgent need for this. Most pharmacies sell disposable plastic containers with a tight-fitting lid that are completely ready to use.
The most accurate analysis is considered to be collected early in the morning after a long sleep. On the eve, it is better to refrain from fatty and spicy foods, as well as from alcoholic beverages. Intense physical activity should also be avoided, because it accelerates metabolism, and this can affect certain laboratory parameters.
The toilet of the external genital organs is of great importance. Use warm boiled water for this. But soap is completely useless. Impurities in the urine will make the analysis uninformative.
When collecting urine, it is important that no excess gets into the sterile container. This is why women should insert a small cotton swab into their vagina. This is especially important during menstruation.
Collect a midstream urine sample. The first and last jet must be drained into the toilet. During the collection process, do not interrupt urination. For research, 20-30 ml of urine is enough.
Deliver the material to the laboratory within an hour and a half. If stored for a longer period, the accuracy of the result is not guaranteed. If the laboratory is far from home and the journey takes more than two hours, ask for a preservative in advance. However, this service is available only in some private laboratories.
