Acute pharyngitis is an inflammatory process that is localized on the pharyngeal mucosa. This condition can be accompanied by discomfort in the throat, sore throat, and pain. The cause that caused the appearance of the disease determines the direction of therapy in the treatment of acute pharyngitis. Treatment methods for bacterial and viral etiology will be different - antibiotic therapy or symptomatic treatment.
It is necessary
- - alcohol;
- - essential oil of eucalyptus, mint, menthol or a decoction of chamomile, sage, calendula leaves;
- - an aqueous solution of propolis tincture;
- - antimicrobial drugs.
Apply warming compresses to the neck area. Prepare a piece of cheesecloth, folded in several layers. Saturate it with rubbing alcohol and place it on the front of your neck. To avoid the evaporation of alcohol, cover the compress with a piece of polyethylene or waterproof paper, and tie a woolen scarf over the top of your throat.
Provide a gentle diet. Eliminate sour, spicy, too cold or hot foods from the diet, that is, anything that can irritate tissues. Food should be warm, liquid or pureed, light and nutritious. There should not be any solid pieces in the dishes - this can damage the tonsils. Drink a lot - the drink should be abundant, warm, alkaline (still mineral water, milk), vitamin-containing.
Take foot baths. Before going to bed, prepare a bowl of hot water (as long as your feet can tolerate). Immerse your feet in a basin ankle-deep, warm up until the water cools down. You can add dry mustard powder or a little sea salt to the water. Wipe your feet, put on cotton socks first, then woolen socks.
Breathe over the steam. Inhalation of moist air saturated with healing vapors (essential oil of eucalyptus, mint, menthol or a decoction of chamomile, sage, calendula leaves) relieves tension and has an analgesic effect on the pharyngeal mucosa. Inhalation for acute pharyngitis must be done at least 4 times a day, lasting about 5-7 minutes.
Gargle. As a solution for rinsing, you can use: an aqueous solution of propolis tincture, herbal decoctions (the composition is the same as for inhalation), a solution of furacilin, chlorophyllipt and other anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agents.
Do not smoke. Inhalation of tobacco smoke has a strong irritating effect on the pharynx, so you should stop smoking.
Take antimicrobial drugs. Depending on the type of pathogen, it is necessary to take antibiotics in the form of tablets, sprays for local irrigation, aerosols, etc. Special preparations of a wide spectrum of action that suppress viral and microbial activity are highly effective and can quickly relieve inflammation.
