How to use Naloxone

Sobering drugs are used to remove from the state of acute alcoholic intoxication. The antagonist of opioid receptors is "Naloxone", it eliminates the central and peripheral effects of opioids, including arterial hypotension and respiratory depression. The drug is used for acute alcohol poisoning (including coma), overdose of opioid analgesics, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, as a diagnostic tool in patients with suspected drug dependence.

"Naloxone" is administered intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously at a dose of 400 mcg. If the effect is not pronounced enough, the injection is repeated in the same dose after two to three minutes. "Naloxone" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components. Side effects of the drug: tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, itching, rash, increased sweating, tremors (with rapid administration), after the administration of high doses, arterial hypertension or hypotension, ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, pulmonary edema may develop.

Other sobering drugs

The psychostimulants that relieve alcohol withdrawal syndrome include benzodiazepine tranquilizers (Chlosepid, Sibazon, Phenazepam). They are taken in the usual dose (0.5-1 mg) every four to six hours until normal or until sleep occurs. These drugs are contraindicated in acute alcohol poisoning, myasthenia gravis, angle-closure glaucoma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acute respiratory failure, severe depression, under the age of 18.

For a headache caused by a hangover, use "Alka-Seltzer" (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), it contains acetylsalicylic acid, sodium carbonate, citric acid. A tablet of the drug must be dissolved in one glass of water and taken orally (up to 6 times a day). The interval between doses should be at least 4 hours. "Alka-Seltzer" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (in the acute stage), hemorrhagic diathesis, simultaneous use of "Methotrex", "aspirin" asthma. With a hangover syndrome, you can take "Aspirin" in a single dose, which is 0.5-1 grams. The intervals between doses should be at least 4 hours. The maximum daily amount should not exceed three grams (six tablets). Contraindications for Aspirin are the same as for Alka-Seltzer.
