Dill is known to most as a seasoning used in cooking in the preparation of various dishes. However, its useful properties are not limited to this. In the old days, the medicinal properties of dill were widely used in folk medicine.

Its seeds contain a large amount of flavonoids, vitamins B, C, niacin, carotene, and a set of minerals - mainly iron, potassium and phosphorus. In addition, essential oils and fatty acids, which are used in medicine and perfumery, give dill popularity.
Dill has pronounced bactericidal properties, therefore it suppresses the processes of decay in the body and helps it to remove toxins.
When dill is used
In folk medicine, dill seeds are used at elevated pressure, as a diuretic for kidney stones, liver and biliary tract diseases, as an expectorant for bronchitis and acute respiratory infections. In addition, a decoction of dill seeds relaxes spasmodic intestines, stimulates its work, improves digestion and eliminates flatulence, and also relieves chronic constipation. It is possible to use a decoction of dill seeds in infants. In this case, it eliminates the increased gas formation and prevents the occurrence of an umbilical hernia. In nursing mothers, when using a decoction of dill seeds, lactation is enhanced. Dill essential oil has antiseptic properties, so it is used as a lotion for eye diseases and dermatitis, as well as for insect bites.
It is not recommended to take dill at low blood pressure, as this can provoke a sharp drop in blood pressure and temporary loss of vision.
Traditional medicine recipes
Dill tea (decoction) for intestinal problems
One teaspoon of dill seeds is poured with 250 ml of boiling water and infused for 10 minutes. You need to drink ½ glass 2 times a day.
To enhance lactation
Pour a tablespoon of dill with a glass of boiling water and leave for two hours. You need to take 0.5 glasses twice a day in small sips, holding the infusion in your mouth for a while. To enhance the effect of lactation, at the same time as taking tea, you need to eat 1 tablespoon of sour cream.
Dill water for babies
Pour one teaspoon of dill seeds with ½ liter of boiling water and leave for 30 minutes. Serve between feedings one teaspoon 3 times a day.
Dill vitamin tea
Take a little raspberry leaves, currants, mint, fireweed, hops, add one tablespoon of dill seed powder, you can put dried orange or apple skins. Pour the mixture with one liter of boiling water, put on low heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Then wrap and leave for 20 minutes to infuse. Drink one glass on an empty stomach in the morning and evening.
Compress for tired eyes
Prepare a regular dill broth, strain it through cheesecloth, cool to room temperature. Then moisten cotton pads in the broth, squeeze and put on your eyes.
