In our central region of Russia, many useful herbs grow that will help you maintain health, youth and good spirits. Today we will talk about oregano. If you know such a spice as oregano, then know that this is the oregano that grows along the edges of forests, on sunny slopes and meadows. Everyone can collect and prepare it. Oregano grows in Siberia, the Far East, and Primorye. You should look for it in places where there is a lot of sun and dry sandy soil, on the slopes of hills, near rivers, at the edge of a coniferous forest. But remember not to pick herbs along roads or near industrial plants. You can also grow oregano in your garden if you follow the conditions that suit it.

Oregano blooms at the beginning of July, but if the summer is cold, then the flowering will last until August, and maybe even until the beginning of September. Harvesting is carried out in dry, clear weather so that the leaves are not wet. The plant should be checked for diseased leaves and insects. It is better that all the flowers in the inflorescence have already been dissolved, because at this moment the plant has maximum strength. Grass is collected together with inflorescences, dried in bunches, hanging in a warm ventilated place or in a special dryer. You can store the finished herb in glass jars or paper bags for several years, it does not lose its properties.

Oregano contains a lot of essential oil, so its smell is strong, somewhat similar to mint. Oregano essential oils are useful to inhale, they have a tonic effect, stimulate mental activity. Oregano tea helps to fight fatigue, insomnia, restores lost tone to the body. In ancient times, oregano was used to treat female diseases, so it is considered a female herb. Men should not drink it, at least not in large quantities. And this herb has an extremely positive effect on the female body.

To make tea, simply add two to three teaspoons of dry herb to a teapot (500 ml) and pour boiling water over it. Oregano is used alone or in combination with other herbs. It can be added to ordinary black tea, this will make its taste more intense, tart, and give a deep summer aroma. It goes well with St. John's wort and thyme.

Pregnancy is a contraindication because oregano essential oils can cause cramping. Children can be given oregano tea, it is an excellent means of preventing colds, but the amount must be controlled and monitored so that the child does not develop allergies.
