According to the World Health Organization, up to 20% of the world's inhabitants suffer from some form of allergy. And one of the most common symptoms of an allergic reaction is itchy skin. It can manifest itself in a relatively weak, almost non-disturbing form, or it can be very strong, giving a person noticeable discomfort, both physical and psychological.

It is necessary

  • - infusion of medicinal herbs;
  • - antihistamine drug;
  • - antihistamine ointment.

Step 1

In some cases, a warm shower or bath works well. This procedure is best done in the evening before bedtime. If you are taking a bath, add an infusion of a medicinal herb - calendula, oregano, string or chamomile to the water.

Step 2

If the itching causes very strong discomfort, an uncontrollable desire to scratch the affected area of the skin, take a pill of any antihistamine: Suprastin, Tavegila, Pipolfena, Claritin, Zirtek, etc. It is better if you first crumble it into powder: this way it will be absorbed into the bloodstream and act much faster.

Step 3

It must be remembered that first generation antihistamines (Suprastin, Tavegil) have serious side effects: they cause drowsiness and slow down the reaction rate. Therefore, if your work is associated with a source of increased danger (for example, you are a driver) or requires maximum attention, concentration, you need to take second generation drugs: Claritin, Zyrtec, etc. They are more expensive, but they do not cause the described side effects.

Step 4

As agreed with your doctor, you can use an ointment to relieve itching that contains a corticosteroid, that is, an adrenal cortex hormone. For example, "Hydrocortisone", "Ftorocort", "Flucinar", "Lorinden", "Celestoderm".

Step 5

Try cutting out certain foods that are high in allergenic substances, such as chocolate, citrus fruits, red berries, eggs, and alcoholic beverages. In some cases, it helps to get rid of the itching quickly.

Step 6

If possible, you should contact a qualified allergist and get tested. Based on its results, the cause of the allergy will be established (the allergen is identified) and the most appropriate treatment method will be selected.

Step 7

In some cases (fortunately, they happen very rarely), extremely severe itching can be a sign of the so-called "hurricane", that is, a rapidly developing allergic reaction. If it is accompanied by such signs as the rapid spread of red spots on the skin, swelling of the nasopharynx, difficulty breathing, call an ambulance immediately. Delay is unacceptable here.
