How dolphins treat humans

Dolphin therapy is aimed at obtaining positive emotions, increasing self-esteem, sensorimotor, physical and speech development. It stimulates the development of interest in the world around us, helps to get out of self-isolation, helps relieve stress, feeling unwell, physical or nervous tension.

It affects the body in two ways:

1. Physiological mechanisms (hydromassage, vibroacoustic, ultrasonic, reflexotherapy and relaxing effects of a dolphin on humans).

2. Psychological mechanism (communication and game activity of humans with dolphins).

The essence of the treatment lies in the ultrasonic effect of a dolphin on a person with close bodily contact, joint swimming, communication, and games. With the help of ultrasound, the excitation of the central nervous system is reduced, the activity of the brain and various reactions of the body are activated. In addition to interacting with cells, ultrasound is able to relieve pain.

For each patient, psychologists, therapists, trainers develop a special program based on the diagnosis and indications for treatment.

Indications for dolphin therapy

Dolphin therapy, as one of the areas of psychotherapy, began to be used as a treatment tool about 40 years ago. And now it is actively used for the treatment (main or auxiliary) of many diseases:

Dolphin therapy has no side effects and is well tolerated by patients. But there are also contraindications, including oncology, epilepsy, skin and infectious diseases, problems with the cardiovascular system, schizophrenia.

Dolphin therapy is carried out in two directions:

1. Diagnostic (the dolphin and the patient are in contact in a free environment, with minimal involvement of outsiders).

2. Correctional, (the dolphin and the patient contact in the presence of a specialist in order to solve psychocorrectional, psychoprophylactic and other tasks).

Dolphin therapy for children

Dolphin therapy is designed for any age of the patient, but it is considered more effective in the period from 3 to 12 years. It is used for diseases of the central nervous system, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, speech and hearing disorders.

Children themselves love to splash in the water, but if specially trained dolphins are involved in this process, then the level of production of endorphins (hormones of happiness) will increase significantly.

After communicating with dolphins, autistic children become more interested in the world around them and less withdrawn in themselves, their self-esteem begins to increase, and communication skills improve. On the other hand, hyperactive children become calmer and learn to be focused.

Thanks to dolphin therapy, children are charged with positive emotions, nervous tension is relieved, speech, auditory and motor skills are improved, and immunity is strengthened. Such therapy can even help children recover from severe mental trauma.
