Of course, you need to take care of preventing unwanted pregnancies in advance: think over the contraceptives that are acceptable for both partners and use them. But life is full of accidents, it is impossible to foresee everything. And unprotected intercourse is not such a rare event.

To understand why this happened and how to avoid "dangerous sex" in the future, of course, is necessary. But if this has already happened, the woman's main concern is likely to be to prevent unwanted pregnancies. You should not follow unverified supposedly "folk" recipes, brew some herbs, steam in a bath and soak in a hot bath. Some even think that it is necessary to jump off the closet. All these are absolutely ineffective and even dangerous methods. It is better to turn to proven medications specifically designed to solve this problem.
Postcoital contraception
For such cases, there is the so-called "emergency contraception" - hormonal drugs that prevent pregnancy. The most famous among them are:
- "Postinor";
- "Escapel" (more modern analogue of "Postinor");
- "Ginepristone" or Agesta ".
The most "harmless" of them is "Agesta", therefore, if there is a choice, it is better to stop at it. "Postinor" is a drug of the old generation, it is desirable to use it as a last resort.
To prevent unwanted pregnancy, you must take any of these funds no later than 72 hours after sexual intercourse. This should be done on an empty stomach, i.e. not earlier than 2 hours after a meal. After using the drug, you should also not eat for 2 hours.
If there is no pharmacy nearby
If unprotected intercourse has occurred, and there is no way to immediately purchase the necessary pills in the next 72 hours, you can still find a way out.
If you are abroad, try purchasing similar drugs from pharmacies. For example, such as Plan B, NorLevo, Levonell.
As a last resort, ordinary contraceptive pills can be used as an emergency contraception, only their dose should be much higher:
- "Marvelon", "Regevidon", "Minisiston", "Femoden", "Microgenon" - 4 tablets each;
- "Non-Ovlon", "Ovidon", "Anovlar", "Bisekurin", "Ovuulen" - 2 tablets each
- "Overt", "Microlut", "Excluton" and other so-called mini-drank. The active substance in them is the same as in the "Postinor" preparation, but in scanty amounts, so you will have to drink 20 of these tablets to achieve the required contraceptive effect.
They should also be used no later than 72 hours after contact in 2 doses (the break between doses is 12 hours).
Of course, emergency or postcoital contraception is not a drug that can be used on a regular basis, it is harmful to health. After taking them, a woman may feel nausea, dizziness or headache, pain in the lower abdomen, and experience other discomfort. Allergic reactions are also often observed. In addition, taking these drugs can cause hormonal disruption and impaired reproductive function in the female body. But using "emergency pills" is the least evil to avoid more serious trouble.
