Every day, a person is faced with an unthinkable number of pathogens of a wide variety of diseases. The immune system protects the body against most infections, but if the immune system is weakened, the person becomes vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. You can protect yourself and your loved ones from diseases by strengthening the body's natural defenses and protecting yourself from the effects of pathogens.

Prevention of respiratory viral infections

Most respiratory viral infections are transmitted by airborne droplets and contact. Try to limit your stay in crowded places - if the weather and distance to your destination permit, do not use public transport, temporarily refuse to attend cultural events, go to a small store near your home for groceries rather than in a crowded supermarket.

If this is not possible, do not touch the handrails in transport with your bare hands, wash your hands as often as possible and carry disinfectant wipes or solutions with you to treat your hands with them after touching money, doorknobs, and taps in public toilets at work. Do not touch your face with unwashed hands and do not communicate unless absolutely necessary with coughing and sneezing colleagues. After returning from the street, flush your nose with saline solutions to rinse pathogens from the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract.

Disposable masks and gauze bandages will not help protect against infection - it makes sense to wear them only if you yourself are sick and want to protect others from infection. Masks should be changed every four hours - disposable should be thrown away immediately, gauze bandages should be washed and ironed with a hot iron on both sides.

Dress for the weather to avoid hypothermia. Low room temperatures are not as dangerous as drafts and sudden temperature changes. Be sure to ventilate the room you are in during the day, and do wet cleaning as often as possible. If possible, get a flu shot before the outbreak begins.

Physical activity, good nutrition, rich in vitamins contribute to the strengthening of immunity. Taking multivitamins and immunostimulating drugs will not give an effect if you move a little, spend most of the time in a stuffy room, where, besides you, there are several other people, eat semi-finished products and do not introduce fresh fruits, vegetables, lactic acid products into the menu, sleep little.

How to protect yourself from intestinal infections?

The main routes of transmission of intestinal infections are fecal-oral and contact. Do not drink unboiled water, wash your hands as often as possible, wash fruits and vegetables with hot water. You shouldn't buy food from street stalls.

When cleaning an apartment, use disinfectants regularly, but not constantly, especially if someone in the family has already become infected. Particular attention should be paid to objects that are often touched by hands - door and window handles, bathroom and kitchen taps, switches. Keep the toilet lid closed and try to keep your toothbrushes and towels as far away from it as possible if you have a combined bathroom - when draining water, the smallest splashes get into the air, settling on surrounding objects.
