How To Independently Calculate The Estimated Weight Of The Fetus

Video: How To Independently Calculate The Estimated Weight Of The Fetus

When examined by an obstetrician-gynecologist, the estimated weight of the newborn is necessarily calculated. A large or, conversely, a small fetus can lead to pathologies during pregnancy and childbirth. You can also calculate the estimated weight of the fetus yourself, at home.

Necessary

• - tape measure;
• - antibacterial soap, towel;
• - notebook and pen;
• - calculator;
• - a snapshot of an ultrasound examination (ultrasound).

Instructions

Step 1

Wash your hands with antibacterial soap and dry them with a clean towel to prevent infection of the skin and mucous membranes.

Step 3

Lie on your back with your legs extended. Measure the abdominal circumference (ABC) on your own or with the help of an assistant. To do this, it is necessary to hold a measuring tape under the lower back, connecting the ends at the level of the navel. Write down the result in a notepad.

Step 4

In the same position, measure the height of the fundus of the uterus (VDM). Perform the manipulation with the help of an assistant or yourself. To do this, place the edge of the palm on the most protruding part of the fundus of the uterus, measure the distance from the pubic articulation to this point. Write down your result.

Step 5

Calculate the estimated fetal weight using the Jordania formula. To do this, multiply the abdominal circumference by the height of the uterine fundus. X = coolant * WDM. Use a calculator to make calculations to make the task easier.

Step 6

Calculate the estimated weight of the fetus using Yakubova's formula: add the circumference of the abdomen and the height of the fundus of the uterus. Then multiply this value by 100 and divide by 4. X = (Coolant + WDM) x 100: 4.

Step 7

Calculate the estimated weight of the fetus using the Bublchenko formula. To do this, divide the weight of the pregnant woman by 20. X = M: 20. Also, the resulting value is the permissible blood loss of a woman during childbirth.

Step 8

Calculate the estimated weight of the fetus using the Lankowitz formula: add together the height of the uterine fundus, the circumference of the abdomen, the weight and height of the woman. Then multiply the value you received by 10. X = (WDM + Coolant + woman's weight in kg + woman's height in cm) x 10.

Step 9

During the ultrasound procedure, it is also possible to determine the estimated weight of the fetus, with an accuracy of the result up to 90%.

Step 10

Calculate the estimated fetal weight using Johnson's formula. To do this, subtract 11 from the height of the uterine fundus, multiply your result by 155. X = (WDM - 11) x 155.

Step 11

Calculate the estimated weight of the fetus using the Dobrovolsky formula: subtract 96 from the woman's height. Then multiply the result by 0.05. X = (pregnant woman's height - 96) x 0.05.

Step 12

Write down all the calculated results in a notepad. If desired, you can show them to your obstetrician-gynecologist.

Step 13

Wash your hands with antibacterial soap and dry them with a towel to prevent infection of other organs and systems.

Step 14

Wash your belly after measurements with detergent or wipe with a damp cloth.
