Everyone has their favorite sleeping position, however, with the onset of pregnancy, the state of affairs changes, and sleeping in some positions for a woman becomes not only uncomfortable, but also dangerous for the health of the unborn baby.
At the beginning of pregnancy, pregnant women can sleep on their stomachs, since the uterus is small, and the pressure exerted by the body's weight does not affect the development of the baby in the womb.
However, sleeping on your stomach during pregnancy can be hampered by breast tenderness, which begins to increase from the very first days after conception. Sleeping in this position can become uncomfortable, and you will have to choose another position. It is best to get used to sleeping on your side from the very beginning of pregnancy, since lying on your back becomes harmful in the future.
By the third or fourth month of pregnancy, as a rule, pain in the mammary glands disappears, but the uterus grows, a tummy begins to appear. The pelvic bones cease to close the uterus, although you can still comfortably lie down on such a small belly. Despite the fact that the child is protected by the fetal membrane and amniotic fluid, the muscular layer of the uterus and the press, prolonged pressure is not good for the baby. Therefore, pregnant women should not sleep on their stomachs.
By the third trimester, the fetus grows so that sleeping on the stomach becomes uncomfortable. For a comfortable sleep, you can roll the blanket roll or buy a special pillow for pregnant women, which allows you to choose a comfortable position for rest. Even those who are accustomed to resting on their stomachs before pregnancy will sleep better with such devices.
The most comfortable sleeping position in late pregnancy is lying on your side. From the point of view of the work of internal organs, it is optimal to choose the left side, with the exception of cases of heart disease.
