More and more often we see babies with red spots on their cheeks. It is sometimes impossible to find out the cause of these rashes without the help of a doctor. But to eliminate the consequences is possible and even necessary.
There is a wide selection of anti-allergy creams and ointments in pharmacies. But do not rush to buy one of them and smear the child's cheeks from diathesis, even if a friend recommends this particular drug and assures that it helped her baby. Many of these drugs contain corticosteroid hormones, especially those that help quickly. It is worth listing the most popular of them so that parents know which creams cannot be used on their own: Celestoderm, Akriderm, Elokom, Advantan, Fluicinar, Fucicort, Fluorocort and some others.
Despite the fact that in modern drugs the content of hormones is insignificant, they can be used only as directed by a doctor and only if other means are not effective. The smaller the child, the more dangerous for him the uncontrolled use of hormonal ointments.
If the baby is nevertheless prescribed one of these medicines, precautions must be taken: do not use the remedy for longer than recommended by the doctor (usually about 5 days); treat exclusively damaged skin areas.
Non-hormonal creams and ointments
Lubrication of the cheeks during diathesis with non-hormonal agents is the safest for children.
"Fenistil gel" relieves irritation and itching, has a local anesthetic effect. Approved for use from the first days of life.
"Elidel" has anti-inflammatory properties, can be used from 3 months.
If a child has wet cheeks, zinc-based anti-diathesis ointments help well: Dessetin, Diaderm, Tsindol, Zinc paste and others. They form a protective layer on the skin, prevent the penetration of microbes, relieve inflammation and dry out.
"Bepanten" (analogues "Pantoderm", "Panthenol", "D-panthenol") is recommended for dry skin, has a regenerating effect. Can be used from birth, including prophylaxis. "Emolium" is also effective against dryness, saturates and moisturizes the epidermis, restores the water-lipid layer, and also softens and elasticizes the skin, relieves itching.
Traditional medicine recipes
Has a beneficial effect in diathesis, a decoction of bay leaves. You need to take 6 bay leaves for a glass of water. Boil for 10 minutes, then cool and add a teaspoon of baking soda. Treat the affected area several times a day.
With wet cheeks, take one tablespoon of melted pork fat, add a few drops of birch tar, mix and lubricate the redness with the resulting mixture.
