Bellastesin is a drug based on belladonna extract (belladonna leaves) and benzocaine.

Brief characteristics of the drug

The medicine is available in round tablets with a dividing line, marbled brown. In a standard package of 10 tablets, each contains 0.015 g of belladonna extract and 0.3 g of anesthesin. The preparation contains auxiliary substances: talc, potato starch, calcium, stearic acid gelatin.

Bellastezin is an analgesic with antispasmodic and hyposecretory action. The antispasmodic effect is expressed in a decrease in the tone of smooth muscles and muscles of the housing and communal services. The hyposecretory effect is to reduce the secretion of sweat, salivary, bronchial gastric and pancreas, and to reduce the secretion of bile. The drug has an analgesic effect thanks to anesthesin (benzocaine), which blocks pain.

Indications for use

Bellastezin is prescribed for painful spasms and inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract, gastric, intestinal and hepatic colic, hypersecretory gastritis (high acidity), increased salivation.

Side effects

The drug can have a depressing effect on the central nervous system: cause dizziness and headache, weakness, drowsiness, overexcitement, nervousness, insomnia, speech and coordination disorders, problems with the vestibular apparatus. There may be impaired vision, dilated pupils due to atropine, tachycardia, pruritus, allergic reactions. All these symptoms require immediate consultation with your doctor.


Bellastesin is not recommended for children under 14 years of age, people whose work is associated with increased mental, mental and visual stress, vehicle drivers during work, pregnant and lactating women.   • The effect of treatment with bellastesin is reduced by antacids, attapulgite, ascorbic acid,.
  • The use of bellastezin along with amantadine and quinidine reduces the antibacterial effect of the last two drugs.
  • Taking bellastesin simultaneously with hormonal contraceptives weakens the contraceptive properties of the latter.
  • Unwanted lethargy and weakness of the system can be caused by taking bellastesin simultaneously with opoid analgesics and sedatives.
  • Bellastezin reduces the anti-inflammatory effect of digitoxin, ketoconazole, metronidazole, doxycycline and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • Bellastesin enhances the antihistamine properties of drugs in the treatment of allergies.
  • The simultaneous administration of bellastesin and drugs such as indapamide and nizatidine leads to an increase in the therapeutic effect of the latter.
  • Bellastezin is not recommended to be combined with medications containing potassium, this can lead to exacerbation of chronic intestinal ailments and even intestinal ulcers.

Instructions for use

Bellastesin is administered orally. The usual dose is 0.5-1 tablet, regularity is 2-3 times a day. The maximum single dose that can be taken is 2 tablets, the daily dose is no more than 5 tablets.

Overdose can lead to dangerous consequences for the body. The most common consequences can be tachyarrhythmia, severe muscle weakness, myocardial ischemia, idiosyncrasy, a feeling of dryness and itching of the skin, decreased sweating, hyperthermia, a sharp decrease in lactation, allergic reactions, anxiety panic states, severe sleep disorder, nausea, vomiting, severe tachycardia.
