Plants are widely used to improve sleep. Some make it deeper, others allow you to cope with insomnia. In the pharmacy, you can find tinctures and dietary supplements made on the basis of herbal raw materials, collections of medicinal herbs.

Step 1

Mint will help to relax before bed, calm the nervous system and make sleep more sound. There are many types of this plant, but peppermint is used for medicinal purposes. You can buy it at the pharmacy or grow it yourself (including on the windowsill in the apartment). To prepare a healing infusion, take from 1, 5 to 3 g of dried mint and pour 200 ml of hot water. Let it brew for 15 minutes. Drink before bed or throughout the day (up to 4 times).

Step 2

Melissa, a relative of mint in the caramel family, also has a sedative (sedative and hypnotic) effect. These plants are brewed in the same way. Remember that they increase your appetite. If you tend to be overweight, try to control the amount of food you eat.

Step 3

Valerian increases the duration of sleep, makes it deeper. Buy a drug based on it at the pharmacy (tablets, drops) or prepare a decoction of valerian root at home. Place 2 tablespoons in a porcelain or enamel dish, pour 200 ml of boiling water. Cover and heat in a water bath for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and, wrapping the dish with the broth with a terry towel, leave to cool for 45 minutes. If this method seems difficult to you, make an infusion. Pour 6 to 10 g of dry root with 200 g of water and leave for 8 hours. Take 2 tablespoons 3 (no more than 4) times a day.

Step 4

Motherwort herb has a similar effect. Available in the form of a liquid extract and alcohol tincture. In addition, pressed raw materials for the preparation of infusions are sold. They are prepared at the rate of 15 g of motherwort per 200 ml of water. Take 1/3 cup twice a day.

Step 5

Peony tincture improves sleep quality. It is not recommended to do it yourself, since there is a great risk of making a mistake. Buy the drug at the pharmacy and take 30-40 drops, dissolving them in a glass of water, 3 times a day. It is best to do this 20 minutes before a meal. The course of treatment, as a rule, lasts at least a month, after which a ten-day break is made, and the tincture is continued.

Step 6

Hops were previously thought to have a sedative effect. Later they found out that the substances contained in it have a calming effect on cold-blooded, but not on mammals (including humans). Hops can still be found in preparations for insomnia, but its use is useless.

Step 7

Before you start taking herbs to improve sleep, make sure that you are not prohibited from such treatment. Personal intolerance to substances contained in plants is a contraindication to their use. Pregnant and lactating women should use the herbs listed earlier with caution (motherwort, peony and valerian are contraindicated for them). Tincture of peony is not recommended for low blood pressure and increased acidity of the stomach, valerian - for liver diseases.
