Step 1

During childbirth, a woman's body produces endorphins - hormones of joy and pleasure, which give emotional uplift, reduce unpleasant physical sensations, relieve pain and help to relax. Spread your knees to the sides, rest your chest on the pillow, put your hands under your head, inhale deeply and slowly (relax as you exhale). Relax different parts of your body one at a time. Calm music, essential oils of lemon balm, lavender and rosemary, as well as slightly dim light will help enhance the effect.

An effective way to relieve labor pain is water. It literally “tricks” the pain perception mechanism, acting like a full body massage. Some maternity hospitals allow you to take a shower: by taking advantage of this opportunity, you will significantly reduce stress and pain.

Step 6

A well-chosen posture will help reduce labor pain. For example, swing your hips in a swaying motion (as if you were dancing). This “dance” will relax the perineum, relieve tension and help open the cervix.
