"Baralgin" is a combined analgesic and antispasmodic agent. The active ingredients of the drug are fenpiverinium bromide, metamizole sodium, pitofenone hydrochloride.
"Baralgin" is prescribed for the relief of mild and moderate pain syndrome caused by spasms of smooth muscles in renal, intestinal, biliary colic, spasms of the ureter, bladder. The drug is also used for biliary dyskinesia, postcholecystectomy syndrome, chronic colitis, diseases of the pelvic organs, algodismenorrhea. "Baralgin" is also used for short-term therapy of sciatica, myalgia, neuralgia, arthralgia, and also as an aid to eliminate pain after surgery and diagnostic procedures. The drug is released in the form of tablets, suppositories, injection solution.
Baralgin tablets are prescribed for adults and children from fifteen years old, one or two pieces two or three times a day. For children from twelve to fourteen years old, a single amount is one tablet, the maximum allowable amount is 1.5 tablets four times a day. Children of eight to eleven years old are given ½ tablet (maximum 4 tablets per day), for children from five to seven years, a single amount is also ½ tablet, and the maximum is 2 tablets per day. For adults and children over 15 years of age with acute colic, two milliliters of the drug are slowly injected intravenously; if necessary, a second injection is given after six to eight hours. Intramuscularly "Baralgin" is injected two to five milliliters two to three times a day, the daily amount should not be more than ten milliliters. The duration of the drug is five days.
For children weighing from 5 to 8 kg "Baralgin" is injected only intramuscularly in an amount of 0.1-0.2 ml, with a weight of 9-15 kilograms, the drug is administered intravenously at a dose of 0.1-0.2 ml, intramuscularly - 0.2 0.3 ml, with a weight of 16-23 kg intravenously - 0.2-0.3 ml, intramuscularly - 0.3-0.4 ml. In children weighing 24-30 kilograms, the dose for intravenous administration is 0.3-0.4 milliliters, for intramuscular administration - 0.4-0.5 ml, for children weighing 31-45 kilograms, 0.5-0.6 ml should be administered intravenously, and intramuscularly - 0, 6-0, 7 ml. Children from 12 to 15 years old intravenously, intramuscularly inject 0.8-1 milliliters of solution. Before injection, the ampoule with the drug must be heated; for this, it should be held in the hand for a while.
"Baralgin" can cause allergic reactions, renal dysfunction, anuria, oliguria, interstitial nephritis, proteinuria, increased sweating, decreased blood pressure, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, dry mouth, tachycardia, difficulty urinating. The drug is contraindicated in cases of revealed hypersensitivity to it, hepatic and renal failure, with tachyarrhythmias, severe angina pectoris, intestinal obstruction, closed-angle glacoma, decompensated chronic heart failure, prostatic hyperplasia. The drug is not used in case of collapse, megacolon, during pregnancy, lactation, in children under three months and with a child weighing less than 5 kg. Baralgin tablets are contraindicated in children under five years of age. With caution, the drug is prescribed for bronchial asthma, aspirin triad, hepatic, renal failure.
