The epidemic of "swine flu" in 2016 struck Russia so much that all previous epidemics were practically forgotten by Russians. Back in 2015, none of the experts could say what type of flu will hit our country in the coming winter ("avian", seasonal or "swine"), but at the beginning of 2016 it became known.

Currently, Russia is at the peak of the swine flu epidemic, and according to the latest data, 134 people have died in the country as of February 1. Since the end of January-beginning of February is the peak of the epidemic, the above figures, perhaps, unfortunately, are not final.

The fear of contracting "swine" flu among Russians is so great that many citizens (even being healthy) find pseudosymptoms of this disease in themselves, exaggerate any slight indisposition, which, naturally, negatively affects their psychological state. They become more anxious and stressful for many. As you know, people under stress for a long time are more susceptible to various diseases, since immunity is reduced.

Psychologists advise not to panic, but to study the first symptoms of "swine" flu and if they appear, then go to the hospital to diagnose the disease. Remember: a disease detected on time can be perfectly treated.

What are the first symptoms of "swine" flu

The most important symptom of "swine" flu is a rise in temperature to 39 degrees and above, which cannot be brought down. If this temperature is accompanied by dry cough, nausea or vomiting, lethargy, body aches, headache, lack of appetite, then do not hesitate and consult a doctor. As you know, the negative consequence of "swine" flu is the development of pneumonia. A person simply cannot breathe normally, the lungs and bronchi are affected.

If you notice the following symptoms, call an ambulance immediately:

Remember, if your age is under 18 or you are over 65, you have chronic diseases and problems with immunity, then you will most likely be offered hospitalization. Do not give it up in any way.

"Swine flu" is contagious and spreads among people very quickly, but if you adhere to some simple rules, then infection can be minimized and avoided altogether. So, first of all, try not to visit places where there is a large crowd of people, if this is not possible, then be sure to wear a gauze bandage and change it every two hours. Wash your hands with soap and water as often as possible. Do not forget to do wet cleaning every day in the room where you spend most of the time, as well as ventilate it.

What to do if you catch the swine flu

If you find several of the above symptoms of the disease, then in no case self-medicate, call a doctor immediately. The fact is that the disease itself, although not fatal, is, however, possible a fatal outcome with the development of complications.

First of all, minimize contact with people, go outside only when urgently needed and only in a gauze bandage. Wash your hands with soap and water as often as possible, cover yourself with a handkerchief when coughing and sneezing (it is better to use disposable, which can be thrown away later). Before the ambulance arrives, stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids, especially freshly prepared fruit drinks.
