"Diazolin" is a synthetic antihistamine drug - a blocker of H1-histamine receptors. It is used for various allergic diseases. The active ingredient of "Diazolin" is mebhydrolin.


Instructions for the use of "Diazolin"

"Diazolin" has an antipruritic and antiallergic effect, reduces swelling. The drug does not have a pronounced sedative and hypnotic effect, weakens the effect of histamine on the smooth muscles of the intestines, uterus, bronchi. The maximum effect of "Diazolin" is observed after one to two hours, it can last up to two days.

The drug is available in the form of tablets and pills. One tablet (or one tablet) contains 50 mg or 100 mg of mebhydroline. "Diazolin" is prescribed for allergic diseases: allergic conjunctivitis, seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis, urticaria, allergic inflammation of the mucous membranes of the eyes, hay fever, itchy dermatosis.

The maximum daily dose of the drug should not exceed 600 mg. A single dose should not exceed 300 mg.

"Diazolin" can be prescribed to treat skin reactions to insect bites, it is also used in combination therapy for bronchial asthma. The drug is taken orally, after meals. Adults and children aged 10 years and over are prescribed 50-300 mg of Diazolin per day. The dose of the medicine depends on the disease. The daily amount of the drug is divided into two doses. For children aged two to five years, "Diazolin" is prescribed in the amount of 50-150 mg per day, for children from five to ten years old - 100-200 mg per day.

Contraindications, side effects of "Diazolin"

"Diazolin" is contraindicated in case of gastric ulcer (and duodenal ulcer), with exacerbated inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, with prostatic hypertrophy, with hypersensitivity to mebhydrolin, with angle-closure glaucoma, in children under 2 years of age. The drug is prescribed with caution for cardiac arrhythmias, pyloric stenosis, epilepsy, during pregnancy and lactation. For patients with kidney and liver diseases, the dose can be adjusted if necessary.

When taken simultaneously with other drugs, it must be borne in mind that "Diazolin" enhances the effect of drugs that depress the central nervous system.

"Diazolin" is usually well tolerated, sometimes drowsiness, increased fatigue, dizziness, slowing down of the reaction rate can be observed, therefore, while taking the drug, care must be taken when controlling complex mechanisms and driving vehicles. The drug can also cause dry mouth, nausea, heartburn, irritation of the gastric mucosa, abdominal pain, agranulocytosis, granulocytopenia, urinary disorders, allergic reactions.
