Imet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It contains ibuprofen (a phenylpropionic acid derivative). The medicine has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic (antipyretic) effects.
"Imet" is prescribed for the treatment of inflammatory diseases accompanied by pain symptoms: degenerative inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system (osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoariatic arthritis, tendovaginitis, bursitis, exacerbation of gout). The tool effectively relieves pain after injuries to muscles, joints, with algodismenorrhea, lowers the temperature in case of inflammation of an infectious nature. "Imet" is included in the complex therapy of infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by fever and pain.
The tablets of the drug must be taken orally, during or after meals, with water. With mild to moderate pain, adults and children from 12 years of age are prescribed 200-400 mg 2-3 times a day. At high temperatures, adults and children from 12 years old need to take 200-400 mg once. If the temperature does not decrease, after 4 hours, the reception is repeated. The maximum permissible daily amount of "Imet" for adults, children over 15 years old is 1200 mg, for children over 12 years old - 1000 mg. The interval between doses should be at least 4 hours. No dosage adjustment is required for the elderly.
"Imet" can have the following side effects: constipation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, headache, edema. In some cases, after taking the drug, the liver tissue is damaged, urine output decreases, the amount of uric acid in the blood serum increases, and hematopoiesis disorders develop. Sometimes there are skin rashes, itching, aseptic meningitis, asthma, shortness of breath, tachycardia appear, and blood pressure decreases.
"Imet" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the components, acetylsalicylic acid, in children under 12 years of age. Do not prescribe the drug in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, with bronchial asthma, severe pathologies of the liver, kidneys, blood vessels, heart, with ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal bleeding. When used simultaneously with ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers "Imet" reduces their antihypertensive effect.
The drug reduces the effect of "Hypothiazide", "Furosemide" and other diuretics. Since ibuprofen enhances the effect of anticoagulants, while taking it, the likelihood of developing gastrointestinal bleeding increases. "Aspirin" reduces the concentration of ibuprofen in the blood plasma. In cases of using "Imet" with glucocorticosteroids, the risk of side effects from the digestive tract increases.
